Use of animals for scientific purposes
In accordance with the Animal Protection Law and the Cabinet of Ministers' Regulations of January 22, 2013 "On the Protection of Animals Used for Scientific Purposes", on March 30, 2015, by the Rector's Order No. 4.3.-13/29, the LBTU Animal Welfare and Protection Ethics Council was established at Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies.

Regulations have been developed and approved by the Rector's Order No. 4.3.-13/32 of April 16, 2015, which stipulate that the Council is an advisory institution, the purpose of which is to provide advice to experimental animal breeders, suppliers and users in the field of animal welfare and protection, as well as to evaluate experimental projects before submitting them to the Food and Veterinary Service.
One of the tasks of the Council is to monitor research conducted at LBTU that uses animals. Therefore, the Council members have developed a sample application that will help monitor research involving animals at LBTU and provide consultations.
